Problem of the Week - July 31, 2023



A hollow piece of right cylindrical drainage pipe has an outside radius of 2.3 inches and an inside radius of 2.1 inches (outside radius is from the center of the pipe to the outside surface while the inside radius is from the center to the inside surface).  The piece of drainage pipe is three feet long.  To the hundredth of an inch, how many square inches are in the total surface area of the pipe?  Use 3.14 as the approximation of Pi.
