Problem of the Week

A new problem every Monday that challenges participants of all ages to think creatively and apply their math skills. Perfect for a weekly mental challenge.

Variables B, O, and K represent digits in each number base.  If B does not equal O, and O does not equal K, determine the base ten sum of B + O + O + K such that the values will satisfy the given equation. 

BOOK8 – BOOK5 = BOOK7  or (BOOK(base 8) – BOOK(base 5) = BOOK(base 7))
