Problem of the Week

A new problem every Monday that challenges participants of all ages to think creatively and apply their math skills. Perfect for a weekly mental challenge.

You begin with a circle whose diameter is 32 cm.  The next circle has a diameter of 16 cm.  You continue to construct additional circles with diameters that are half the length of the previous circle.  What is the sum of the areas of all of the circles?
