Problem of the Week

A new problem every Monday that challenges participants of all ages to think creatively and apply their math skills. Perfect for a weekly mental challenge.

Daniel decides to run on his treadmill. His treadmill has a special feature that most treadmills do not have; it can increase or decrease running speed by a certain percentage with the touch of a button. Daniel starts running at 5 miles per hour for 1 minute and then increases his speed by 10 percent after every minute of running. After he has run for 10 minutes how far (in miles rounded to the nearest hundredth) has he run?
